E Cape communities benefit from Welisizwe Rural Bridges Programme

Public works and Infrastructure Deputy Minister, Sihle Zikalala, says the 54 bridges in the Eastern Cape, completed under the Welisizwe Rural Bridges Programme, will help to mitigate the impact of natural disasters following heavy rainfall in rural communities.

Zikalala was inspecting the Postdam Bridge, one of three Welisizwe bridges in the Buffalo City Metro.

He says improving the lives of people in previously disadvantaged communities, is key to achieve equality for the people of the country.
