LGE 2026 | New party wants safety and security plan for voter safety in gang-infested areas

Newly formed political party in the North West, the Amalgamated Concerned Residents Association (ACRA), has raised the alarm about voter safety in gang-infested areas in Gauteng and the Western Cape ahead of local government elections in November.

The party has singled out Westbury, Eldorado Park, Reiger Park, Manenburg, Hanover Park, Delft, and Nyanga.

Addressing the media in Klerksdorp, the party says it has written to the Electoral Commission of South Africa (IEC) to urgently demand a joint safety and security plan from the Commission, SAPS, and the SANDF.
