Residents of Maguguni raise alarm over illicit brew

A growing trend of alcohol abuse in Maguguni, Thika East, is threatening families and the future of young men, with residents raising alarm over their increased consumption of illicit liquor. Thika town MP Alice Ng’ang’a, who has been spearheading empowerment programs in the area to reduce poverty, is now raising concerns over the operating hours of entertainment joints in the area, questioning the county government’s role in regulating the sale of alcohol. Married women claim their husbands have abandoned family responsibilities and spend most of their time drinking.
