Americas society seems sick and broken to me. I've always been a little suspect about a society that values 'winning' as a concept as much as Americans seem to - but over the last decade or so they've sunk lower and lower in my estimate....I thought there was some hope when Americans espoused ideals such as diversity - valuing rather than shaming difference, and equity - valuing equality and striving to ensure it, and perhaps most important, inclusion - lifting people up, bringing people into the fold rather than choosing to exclude them - but these days it seems there are are a loud (albeit HOPEFULLY) minority of Americans who seem to be proud of hating on people who are 'not like they perceive themselves' to be, who decry the value of lifting people up who have suffered inequality at their own hands and shamefully choose to exclude rather include their fellow human beings based on, yet again, their own narrow perception, their own JUDGEMENT, on their own fellow human beings. <br>What America has been portraying itself to be, for quite a while now, is a very hateful, ugly place indeed.

I’ll jump in here for a moment, and I’ll go into more detail about the rest later. Medication can be absolute hell and truly nasty; my mother developed delirium in the hospital due to a combination of various drugs, extreme stress, and anxiety. I didn't recognize her AT ALL—she was a completely different person. She kept asking for Grandpa (her father) to visit, even though he had been dead for about 25 years, and she was sobbing as if he had just passed away. So, I’m not saying the person themselves is malicious, but the medication—combined with anxiety and stress—can have a truly nasty effect. However, after talking for an hour, my mother was back to normal, and she had no recollection of having said those things.
