US attacks UN World Conference Against Racism

The United States has launched a blistering attack on the legacy of the 2001 United Nations World Conference Against Racism in Durban, weeks before the United Nations holds a high-level meeting to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the declaration adopted there.

The General Assembly is due to mark the anniversary on September 28, with the United Nations describing the Durban Declaration and Programme of Action as a global blueprint for racial justice and equality, and calling for renewed support for its full implementation.

SABC News correspondent Sherwin Bryce-Pease reports on some of the pushback to the U.S. position, with roughly two-thirds of UN member states continuing to support the implementation of the conference's outcomes.
