Analyst Sipho Seepe urges leaders to contest elections without treating opponents as enemies

Political analyst Professor Sipho Seepe has called on political party leaders to contest elections and ideas vigorously without treating opponents as existential enemies.

His remarks come after two Inkatha Freedom Party councillor candidates were assassinated in separate attacks in KwaZulu-Natal last week.

The province remains the centre of political assassinations, with local governance structures suffering the heaviest casualties.

A total of 39 councillors have been killed in the region, with targeted assassinations accounting for 17 of those deaths.
