Severe flooding forecast across parts of SA

Government has called on citizens to take precautionary measures following severe weather warnings issued by the South African Weather Service (SAWS), with heavy rainfall, severe thunderstorms, flooding and damaging winds expected to affect several provinces.

SAWS has issued an Orange Level 5 warning for parts of the Northern Cape, where intense thunderstorms, heavy rain, strong winds, and possible flooding are expected.

These conditions may result in localised flooding, damage to homes and infrastructure, fallen trees, and hazardous travelling conditions.
