Disbarred attorney Peet Viljoen's application to halt fraud case dismissed

An application to have disbarred attorney Peet Viljoen's fraud case struck off the roll, has been dismissed by the Specialised Commercial Crimes Court in Pretoria.

Viljoen's legal team argued that he remains in the dark about when his trial will begin, partly because the prosecution has yet to provide a final charge sheet. Viljoen stands accused of fraud amounting to nearly R200-million.

He faces close to 400 charges, including fraud, theft, corruption, forgery and uttering, linked to the alleged fraudulent sale of over 40 properties belonging to the Johannesburg Property Company.
