The Bukusu Community in the western part of Kenya is known for its unique rite of passage as boys transition into manhood. The initiates are subjected to a very rigorous and daunting exercise where they are required to dance all night in a ceremony known as Khuminyaa before they face the cut early in the morning. Timothy Kipnusu visited one village in Toloso Sirisia Constituency, Bungoma County, to witness the ceremony that is carried out in strict precision in line with the Bukusu norms and beliefs.
