Warning to producers, retailers using higher fuel prices as excuse to increase prices

The Competition Commission has warned that a price-gouging probe may look into food producers and retailers who have used higher fuel prices following the US war on Iran as an excuse to keep prices elevated.

This follows the release of the latest Cost-of-Living Report, which shows that low-income households are the most affected by the high price of essential goods and services.

The report also reveals that the price of essential goods and services such as electricity, water, food, communication and transport, continues to outpace wages and inflation.
