Government moves to strengthen special needs education

The government has begun efforts to revive the regional Educational Assessment and Resource Centres (EARC) across the country in a bid to strengthen the early identification, assessment and appropriate placement of learners with disabilities and special educational needs. Speaking during a tour of the Mombasa Assessment and Resource Centre, Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Migos Ogamba said the centres will also provide critical data on the number of learners with disabilities in the country and the nature of support they require.
