Tongue anatomy is a classic USMLE cranial nerve topic 👅🧠

The key is simple: split the tongue into anterior 2/3 vs posterior 1/3.

Anterior taste = CN VII

Anterior general sensation = CN V3

Posterior taste/sensation = CN IX

Tongue motor = CN XII.
