BRICS is emerging as a stronger voice for the Global South, giving developing economies a platform for greater representation and influence in global decision-making. With 11 members, including India, the grouping is advancing development financing, local-currency trade, cross-border payment alternatives and cooperation in areas such as technology, energy, health and agriculture. The New Development Bank has approved over $42 billion for 149 projects, supporting infrastructure and sustainable development. BRICS is also highlighting climate justice, food security and energy security, key priorities for developing nations. For India, it offers an important platform to champion both national interests and the shared concerns of the Global South.
