Northern Cape reports surge in sexual offences

The Northern Cape has seen a sharp increase in sexual offences in the first quarter of the year.

Provincial Police Commissioner, Koliswa Otola, and Safety MEC, Limakatso Koloi, have released the crime stats for April to June 2026.

Murder is among seven crime categories that reduced during this period.

Although police and government remain concerned about high levels of alcohol abuse in the province, and its link to violent crimes.
