The multi-billion-shilling Siyoi–Muruny Dam project in West Pokot County is expected to be completed by December this year. This follows the government’s allocation of 2.2 billion shillings to facilitate the final phase of construction. Water Principal Secretary Julius Korir inspected the project at the Muruny intake to assess the progress of the works and called on the contractor to speed up implementation. The project commissioned in 2015 is now in its final stage, with only the last section of the dam remaining before they begin accumulating water. Water treatment works and piping have already been completed to serve households in Kapenguria, Chepareria and parts of Kesogon in Trans Nzoia.
