Government enrols over 60% of inmates in correctional facilities under SHA

The government has enrolled more than 60 per cent of inmates in correctional facilities under the Social Health Authority. Principal Secretary for the State Department for Correctional Services, Dr Salome Beacco, says the government is fully funding the SHA cover for inmates as part of President William Ruto’s directive to ensure that even the most vulnerable members of society have access to healthcare. Beacco spoke at the Garissa main prison during the state department's monthly tree-planting exercise. She says the government has allocated enough resources to ensure that all inmates are eventually covered.
