African Parliamentarians Call for Stronger Security Sector Oversight

Parliamentarians from across Africa are calling for stronger parliamentary oversight and accountability in the security sector to strengthen democratic governance and protect citizens’ rights.

The call was made at the opening of the 9th Conference of the Network of African Parliamentarians – Members of Defence and Security Committees (REPAM-CDS) in Accra.

The conference is focused on promoting effective parliamentary oversight and accountability to improve security sector governance across Africa.
