He said tbat whikst spluttering and laughing into a radio mike as if it was inevitable and any other consideration was a joke. He wants all of the Ukraine. At the end of his life he has no options. He will be quickly replaced if he fails yet Russia's losses have made him unpopular and enemies. He will die if natural causes or by assassination from his competitors. He cannot simply stop or withdraw without having anything to show for it. Based upon Russia's performance against the Ukraine, taking on NATO, is unrealisable and suicide.

Putin wants the Eastern pats of the Ukraine because there are huge deposits of oil and gas. If he gives up those areas to the Ukraine then the EU will bring the Ukraine into the EU and buy it's gas and oil from the Ukraine only. Putin would then have to sell his oil and gas at discount prices to China and India. So that's the reason why Putin needs the Eastern parts of the Ukraine

The donbas is economically rich with trillions of natural resources. <br>All of Europe and America participated in this war, and Russia still controls a large part of Ukraine, no world leader would back down after losing so much troops. So if Ukraine doesn't give up the donbas the war would just continue, at the expense of Ukrainian lives. Because no matter the amount of soldiers the Russians lose. That's the work of a soldier to fight to victory or death. But the Ukrainians who are constantly bombarded and killed didn't sign up for any of this. Its not as fair a game as you all think. Russia is systematically committing genocide on the Ukrainians. Just like Israel is. Same pattern same moves.

That means that local elites would have a huge pool of 700,000 men who they could hire to make themselves stronger.
