"We are the eyes on the air of the alliance and the launch pad for NATO efforts to track what Russia and China are up to in the crucial North Atlantic and Arctic waterways." - No, not true. But we are a small nation that was forced into NATO in 1949 despite the biggest protests in Icelandic history and with direct threats and promises under secret agreements that have not been published. Forced into NATO like Norway. And the biggest threat comes not from Russia or China but from the Americans who have threatened four times to take Iceland and many times threatened to take Greenland by force! Four times the Orange Clown in the White House has threatened to take over Iceland and we are not satisfied! With "friends" like that, we don't need enemies.
The Cold War Ended 37 years ago. NATO’s only purpose now is to be a giant Epstein Class wealth transfer scam picking the pockets clean of the people of Europe, Canada and the United States. NATO destroyed Yugoslavia, pushed Russia into war in Ukraine and is assisting in the genocide in Palestine. It serves only the interests of the Western Military Industrial Complex. Its mission is not defense—it is to promote forever wars of aggression solely for corporate profits.

Iceland is not the first NATO's defense line, it's the first to be sacrificed! Just like Ukraine, European leaders always claim Ukraine is their first line of defense, but their cruelty is that they refuse to send troops to strengthen their so called defense line! Where is the so-called "Coalition of the Willing" that was created with billions of dollars to protect Ukraine? All these talks are just to scare civilians enough so they can steal as much money as possible! Estonia just spent 90 million dollars for shells that were never produced!

Also worth noting that germans sank commercial ship around Iceland, e.g. they sank the icelandic ship Goðafoss in 1944 (43 casualties)
You can't claim sovereignty while having US military presence in your country.
