Julius Mkhwanazi and co-accused back in court

The bail battle involving suspended EMPD Deputy Chief Julius Mkhwanazi and his five co-accused continues in the Brakpan Magistrate’s Court today. The defense for accused six, former SAPS Flying Squad member Juan Maree Eksteen, is expected to take its turn cross-examining IPID investigator Nomsa Masuku. The six accused face charges including murder, robbery and defeating the ends of justice, linked to the 2022 murder of Brakpan resident Emmanuel Mbense. During yesterday’s proceedings, Masuku told the court that Mkhwanazi could interfere with witnesses if released on bail. For more on this, we're joined by SABC News reporter Calvin Dludla.
