Londoners are able to hail the UK's first robotaxis - as Uber today becomes the first company to launch a self-driving minicab. Initially, it only has 15 autono…

Why the fuq cant we just drive? Getting lazy by the day
Great news that they are taking utmost care to make sure they are safe and will not harm anyone - shame they do not do the same when it comes to the people they let in the country.
No rush… for Britain to close its tech gap with the U.S. and China!!
The BBC, or should I say King Canute. Driverless is coming, get used to it.
What go possibly go wrong!
They've moved so fast to prove that they could do it, not whether they should do it!
According to The Highway Code Rule 116 (backed by Regulation 27 of the Road Vehicles Lighting Regulations), you must not use hazard warning lights while a vehicle is moving on normal roads. So why did it do that?? Accident waiting to happen................
So should I sue Uber when I get hit by it?
This is not autonomous drivers supervised
Cos it's not even safe to drive in London anymore
bbc hacked in for free rides
Surely, the news should be: for the first time in human history, Tesla robotaxi goes live today, with no safety driver, no ring fence, no steering wheel. The streets will never be the same from today 3,SEP2026.
WHY ARE WE ALLOWING THIS? WHO BENEFITS?
Corpo's will do anything but pay a living wage...
Does it shout at you if you dont tip???
I use to be a car mechanic once now i had to retrain to become an electrician
A driverless taxi with a driver.....I see...only in the UK ...paying for a driverless car experience, and paying for the driver on top....welcome to rip off Britain
We all heard the beep telling the driver to take over. Not the drivers decision. Another LIE from wave company
And one crashed, didnt it?
Is this Uber advert sponsored ?
good. now our women can feel safe. 😂
Is it gonna be at least 50% cheaper than with a driver? If not, if I get one I'll cancel it and request again to get a human 😂
How much will Uber pay to the state?
another reason on top of the thousands of reasons that I will never be visiting London again
Good luck avoiding the eBike delivery bikes
Bann driverless cars.
With human drivers behind the wheel. That's confidence in the tech for you. Johnny taxis, it ain't.😂
Introducing UK first self-driving taxi…with the driver at the wheel! 😂
Never liked black taxis 😂😂
Put tgem out London or off the road. Well done👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
Don’t use them! Protest by paying for services that employ our fellow man/woman. And the reporter appears so gleeful to see taxi driver lose jobs! Don’t talk about the real issues of job cuts!

What is wrong with human taxi drivers?
It's not the end of the world, but you can see it from here
Ah yes, the next step in the "you will own nothing " dystopian future we are heading towards.
The automatons has taken over uber
great another way for taking money out of the uk and putting it into the pockets of a foreign company, can't even use the argument for it creating jobs
In San Francisco these things are everywhere and awful! Blocking streets because they get confused and roaming around empty causing more congestion. Sorry for Londoners who will have to experience that.
LOL America is so far ahead of the UK when it comes to self-driving vehicles 😂
Shouldn't be allowed.
I’m honestly happy I won’t have to deal with this no job autonomous world we’ll be in 20 years. I’ll be a mad old geeza in a home with a robot nurse totally checked out 😂
If they accidentally run over a pedestrian or cyclist, will there be robotaxi jails? Or perhaps a remake of "The Cars that Ate Paris"?
Only u Need vehicle even u sit on driver sit that it all
US company is continuing taking away UK jobs.
Nothing good ever came from Uber unless you are a politician and it came in a brown envelope.
So taxi drivers are out of the job and I can guarantee the prices won’t drop. Who wins? Yep, only the corporations running the show!

The start of the end!
I will still prefer original authentic taxi with original authentic human driver … nothing else is needed …
Correction 14, 1 had a crash lol
Over 100,000 drivers are out of a job then.
And AI is coming for yours next
Everything is unaffordable. Yet we're getting ai pushed by bunch of billionaires to take our jobs. So they can make more profit and own more wealth. Great!
How can we make sure all the profits go to silicone valley billionaires instead of creating jobs here?
I guess we all need to stop working and start stealing
This won't end well
All we asked for was affordable housing and NO job cuts...
Cant fix the roads but want driverless cars
Seems like they cherry picked a few quiet streets.
Zoe Climman is the first british journalist to hail a self-driving car . In he central London traffic for a while she is also asking important questions . And the answer is the british authorities will to make sure security will be 100% in the robotaxis in the near future when they will be available anywhere in the United Kingdom. See you again!
People are dying of hunger and homelessness but the government wants these ridiculous driverless cars.
Fix the roads first
Only the UK would make companies put a driver in a driverless car
Too little, too late. Tesla are the leaders in FSD, no mention from the BBC of course.
Taxi drivers are retraining I hear.
Took a few in Atlanta last year, no biggie..
London streets are very different from US streets. They are testing these things in public.
so how do you want jobs to run if your puting AI IN JOBS
your using AI and data centers wich take up water for global warming
Cabbies all looking for new jobs, then. It just won't be the same if these things will go south of the river after a certain time of night.
Beautiful lady 💕
London is one hacker away from being shut down😂…one bored 13 year takes down the whole city😂
Driverless cars are one way to avoid awkward small talk I guess?
okay time to check the traffic graphics, no way I putting my body on thoses dumb machines first...
