Andrzej #Poczobut meets with the #Pope at the #Vatican

Former political prisoner in Belarus Andrzej Poczobut met with Pope Leo XIV at the Vatican on Wednesday. Poczobut, a journalist and activist from the Union of Poles in Belarus, spent five years behind bars on politically motivated charges before being released in April 2026 as part of a larger prisoner exchange.

He presented the Pope with a copy of the icon of Mary from St. Francis Xavier Cathedral in Grodno and asked for a blessing for the Polish minority in Belarus.
