I notice some of these things happening in the American society as far back as the early 90s: hypocrisy was a requirement, to cheat, to lie was good and normalize and that society itself not only seems to expect that you are a lier but actually promoted it. For those who are too good and honest society seems to have set some traps from where you could not escape but through some sort of cheating.

Writing during the height of the 60s, Longshoreman-Philosopher Eric Hoffer wrote: "We are living in a time when the future is in our midst devouring the present before our very eyes." Radical change and its consequences have become institutionalized.

Fyodor Dostoevsky's The Idiot acts as a profoundly dark warning for the modern world by depicting a "positively good man," Prince Myshkin, being destroyed by a society obsessed with money, vanity, and reputation. Written in 1868–1869, the novel mirrors contemporary crises of superficiality, moral nihilism, and the inability to accept genuine, radical empathy in a competitive, materialistic culture.

I just discovered this 2 days ago and have listened to it......every single day. Ex left and tried to move away with my sons, i fought to keep them and won custody, took me back to court next year, i won again, she filed for an appeal ....and now i have to go back. I saved 16k...through discipline and hard work.....both my sons stole 4k in total from me. I kicked them off the basketball team until they worked it off to pay me back. She defended thier actions saying " don t take basketball away from them"..... judge agreed with how i punished them. No remorse from either of them stealing that money. I had them both in my custody and ex claims them both on her taxes and uses the money to get an attorney. Im dead broke and cannot afford an attorney so I have to go pro se and head to court to defend ( reluctantly) my boys. She s taking me to court to have child support reduced. This video had popped on my feed because the rage is starting to settle in.... mitchkin isnt the issue......its the people around him that are lazy stupid and corrupt. I think many good men on here can relate.......doing everything right and doing the right thing and brutally punished for it. Unlike mitchkin, when ppl exploit your vulnerability using the system, I have no choice but to fight back. Its hard to be a " human being".... mitchkin was a human being in the real sense because he functioned as a mirror. I have to rely on self preservation because if not these people will destroy you. How the hell does that term " love" even enter this equation???

The title if this book could be said to be a certain type of requisite to self deprecating humor, or, an introduction to meta cognition, on a much higher plane or level, the man referring to himself in that way does not neccessarily think of himself that way but refuses to accept the dismissal of truth so readily as to assert his as the only truth available....

He teaches that the honesty we as children had to begin with actually turns out to be both naive and immature, he extends the metaphor to include criminality as a symptom of human honesty, and while were out here being human, we might as well act like were interested😮

When I left Australia for the UK for university, my mum gave me this book. She left a note on the book saying, "do not become an idiot." She always thought I was too nice, too naive compared to my other siblings. I took no joy in playing the game society overlays on people because I felt that would make me fake.

After several weeks in London, I was having a really hard time adjusting to the UK. I remember walking out of a coffee shop a little depressed that I didn't pay attention and almost got run over by a lorry. Someone grabbed my backpack to pull me back and shouted, "MATE, WATCH IT! Jesus, you are an idiot for almost walking in traffic." I remember lifting my face up to see the lorry passing by and on the side of the cargo area it had in big letters, "NOTHING STAYS PURE IN THIS TOWN." It was an ad for some vodka brand. I think it was then I realised that as good-natured as one can be, there will always be people willing to take advantage of you if you don't develop a thick skin. As sad as that is, it’s the world we live in.

“He acts as if trust, love and forgiveness are still possible.”
Wonderful! Wonderful! I hear guidance and sanity in these words. I am nearing my 88th year and all my life I upset people - and never knew why until now! Yes, I trust life - though battered, abandoned, betrayed. Yes, I love all I meet (love defined as committing myself to their well being). Yes, I KNOW that forgiveness is possible because I am sane enough to know the God co-authors EVERY event that exists - past, present, future. I am a 40year student of the story of JOB. I refuse to accept injustice without knowing why God signed off on it. I have found answers that now allow me to see my own dark history as God’s faith in me, God’s way of creating a human being in his Image. We are not now, and will never be, healthy happy animals with easy, comprehensible lives. We are children of God, created to solve (in surrender to and unity with God) exactly the kind of problem we face on earth NOW. Thinking and acting on these foundational beliefs, I’m a freak. Always have been, and by God’s Grace, as long as this system of things exists, I always will be. Got cross, can travel. I know where I’m going and I know Who’s going with me Nuf said.

There is a conscience, because there is a God and a Real world. Those who live by the motto of "practical", constantly override their conscience. But it never goes away. It torments them. They rationalize "practical". If someone comes along and demonstrates that happiness can be found without overriding the conscience, they must be taught that they are WRONG, lest I be wrong, and therefore I be one of the "bad" people, whose existence justified "practical". Goodness and "practical" cannot both be true or right.

I will read this book. This video describes me. But it alludes to Mishkin's fate being tragic. Mine has not been. I am 69 years old. I have a pension that provides the basics but is not enough to finance distractions. I am mostly alone and choose to be more alone than I need to be. I have found peace and happiness and even joy. I am making the world a better place. Wherever I go I feel that the plants and animals and even the ground and the water and the weather and the earth are happy that I came by and they are glad to see me. I see the higher Truth in those who have chosen lies, and that Truth that is within everyone thanks, me even when the deluded fear and attack me.

My goal is to ever increase my capacity for suffering in joyfulness. My gift is to model to others that it is okay to live without fear and make decisions out of love. It is the only system that WORKS to find happiness. When those who have attacked me do their life review, I want them to not lament how they could have been so cruel, but marvel at how I could have still loved them and remained happier than they. I am here to set people free of their delusion that goodness will cost them happiness. It is the only way to find true happiness, which cannot be shaken by the suffering of the world. I walk the path that all are seeking, to make it easier for the lost to find their way home.

There is nothing else worth doing. Those of us who refused to literally MASK up were abused and ostracized. The easy path of going along was not an option for me. I would feel into how I would feel energetically to comply, and that was much much worse than the abuse encountered. I did also sort of goad people on. For when I needed to go to a store and wasn’t up for a conflict, I made a black lace “face lingerie” with the words I’M NOT SICK ARE YOU?printed across it. And I had at-shirt printed with UNMUZZLED across it. I would toss, or “edit” the ridiculous signs at parks asking to mask up and keep asocial distance. It’s not enough for me to quietly not comply.
