Stats SA | Burglary victims not reporting crimes as they've lost confidence in police response

A disturbing warning about public confidence in policing. The latest Stats SA Governance, Public Safety and Justice survey 25/26 says housebreaking remains the most common household crime in the country. But what is perhaps even more concerning is what happens after people are victimised. Only 48% of victims reported the crime, with the rest opting not to report because they don't believe police would do anything about it.
