This tragedy is no surprise and was bound to come sooner or later. the Himalayas are a fragile mountain range with even more fragile ecosystem. for last about 20 yrs there has been RECKLESS digging of roads, highways, tunnels in the name of Development from India, Tibet and China !! the foot hills of the Himalayas in the state of Himachal Pradesh, mountains are being drilled into almost throughout the state for roads and highways to improve tourism !!! The mountains have been cracking for a long time now. Joshimath a village in the Himalayas have been witnessing breaking ground for years now. landslides in a lot of Himalayan cities and villages is a common occurrence now for last 15 odd yrs. not too long ago the Himalayan peaks were as good as Permafrost, absolutely inaccessible, but not anymore. The snow is melting faster than ever. even the smallest vibration, seismic activity can have potentially disastrous effects. The only way to deal with this is to completely and forever stop, abandon all and every construction activity including the hydroelectric project. If the Himalayas collapse, India, China, Tibet, Bhutan Burma and a few more south Asian countries will be wiped out from the world map just as this village. It is clearly mentioned in ancient Hindu scriptures, this world will end in a massive Flood. and its happening. This should be a warning to all those countries in the Arctic pole to RESPECT and Protect the ice and not destroy it in the greed to retrieve oil and diamonds. We dont have another habitable planet yet on the cards. This is the only place we have.

Reconstruction ?? .. this would be absolutely crazy and even recklessly irresponsible .. the entire surrounding region is now clearly unstable and there is almost certainly of more such similar disasters occurring ....again and again. Unless, the new settlements and villages are built at higher elevation ..like those in Switzerland at the sides of Mountain Slopes ..but that would be too cost prohibitive except for the wealthy Swiss.
