Can someone tell me what the heck they mean when they say “bond prices fall and interest rates rise.” I understand the interest rates rising to try to attract buyers, but how do bond prices fall? A $5000 Treasury bond still costs me $5000, right?

US could always simply refused to pay back the debt. Not like it'd be the first time anyway, so it's expected. Those countries that still keep buying US bonds and keeping their gold in US are playing with fire.

How long will it take to print 40 trillion dollars .?. I just looked it up . It would take about 740 to 900 years of continuous maximum production by the U.S. government to physically print 40 trillion dollars in $100 bills

This also explains why te stock market has fallen (yet). The market basically expects inflation to rise while interest rates staying behind. In the past, the market expected central banks to act much mor agressive. Bessent trading long bonds for short wants basically raises the stakes for the Fed to choose between financial stability and low inflation.

Trump, Bessent and Putin think world markets, particularly the bond market , can be manipulated by armtwisting foreign governments. The best example is the recent visit by CIA Cief to Moscow, the subsequent firing of a missile or something by Russia off an island claimed by Japan and finally culminating in threats by Bessent to Japan not to sell US bonds and not to increase interest rates.
