What if it were £100,000 or £5,000. Who decides what gift is acceptable and what is too much. Anyone investigate Blair's £300 million fortune? Or his life as an envoy. Look at American democracy where you need $300m in donations at least, to run for president. Consider Harry of Meghan fame, should his security in millions, be paid from the public purse or a friend's donation?
