It's the right common sense to protect yourself and reverse terrible mistakes nobody voted for in the first place. How is it possible in democracy to 'rape' nations with open borders and alien culture. Left socialist politicians 'guilt raped' local culture and committed to actions with terrible consequences no citizen voted for. That's how socialism operates - take virtuous idea and weaponize it against the people to gain more power.

That woman is a total radical leftist. Did the DW miss the hundreds of thousands of people protesting all over Spain? Does the DW no realize how much their insane leftist takes and breathless gaslighting are driving people into the arms of the AfD?
@maildeliverysubsystem5396
The DW is pathetic. Dreadful. The far right is a figment of the DW’s paranoid imagination. The Overton window is so far over the hard-left cliff that the new center is just a little radical and anything right of that is called far right. Insane. Also, the take that claims it is the responsibility of politicians to make sure the actual will of the people is subverted in favor of certain principles over others is creepy hard-left authoritarianism masquerading as virtue. The DW should change its name to the DDRW.

Better with no reelections at all I guess.
Why are people changing votes? Because uncontrolled migration leads to deteriorating public order. The Left governments don't want to bring order there too. They don't want policing, believe that integration would happen on its own and just pour people in regardless of their real chances of doing well in the country. We need immigrants and we need the EU. Even the far right in places like Italy understand this. What is more worrying is the intent to dismantle the institutions that maintain checks and balances. If the right wing is always cast offside, it gives them reason to believe the institutions aren't working for them. If media keeps being bias, it allows the spread of misinformation.

It’s crazy how wanting enforced borders and illegals deported has been labeled far right, when in the US that was standard Democrat policy in the 1990s. Things swung so far left in the 2010s and there was a blatant attempt to erase history and deny reality. Instead of stopping it 10 years ago they allowed the bleeding for over a decade. Now we are where we are. When the moderate option becomes impossible the extreme option becomes inevitable.

I'm a liberal internationalist. But even I know that too much immigration, especially when it's not controlled or legal, is toxic and destructive in societies. European and North American governments have failed on this issue in recent years. It has done tremendous damage to building strong and healthy societies. Economic perspective is just one of many ways to look at the impact of immigration. Even from a purely economic perspective there are many objections that can be raised, not all types of immigration has positive economic impact, and in most cases the gains are also just marginal especially in gpd/capita.

Immigration for economy also doesn't address the bigger fundamental issues with the pension system which is the elephant in the room regarding welfare, national budget, and the broader economy. At best it just maintains a broken system in a suboptimal way.

Instead of casting. And measuring these policies in political terms try doing so in economic terms. When VW and others are laying off workers and the economic future appears uncertain where is the funding coming from to host asylum seekers? One’s wish to help is not the same as having the ability to do so for everyone. People driven by feelings without regard for the economic fallout have largely driven this issue for years globally but as people start the feel the pinch of a tougher job market, stagnating wages, increases in national debt the road forward is indicated by numbers, not sentiments. Perhaps the home countries of asylum seekers should be held to account in the global stage to correct matters at home so that those truly just seeking asylum (and not benefits that aren’t offered at home) have less reason to flee, and for the sake of all who cannot flee or otherwise cannot be accommodated. If our values tell us to help then we should work to do so, but not just for those that happen to show up at the door.

Far-right parties have doubled their support in Europe over the past decade, running largely on anti-immigration platforms, even though surveys show Europeans' views on immigration have held relatively steady over the same time period, with large majorities supporting the right to asylum.
