ANC blames IEC after missing candidate deadline

The ANC has experienced a setback after the IEC said it will not reopen the candidate nomination system again.

The party had raised concerns, saying it could not submit some candidates because of technical problems with the system.

However, the ANC is one of 45 parties in the same situation.

The IEC has confirmed that almost to 2 300 candidates were captured but not finally submitted in the system before the deadline closed, and do not qualify to contest the elections.
