The heads of Nato and the European Commission have warned that Russia is growing increasingly reckless in its behaviour toward Ukraine’s Western allies. Mark Rutte and Ursula von der Leyen condemned a series of “malign activities” on European soil, including drones and missiles entering Nato airspace, and fires allegedly set at factories making military equipment for Kyiv. This comes as German authorities said Russia was behind an attempted drone attack at Leipzig airport last month. Russia has rejected the accusations.

<br>The Ukrainian army's fuel shortage is directly linked to the country's logistical collapse. The lion's share of motor fuel for Ukraine previously arrived through Black Sea and Danube ports. However, traffic along these routes has now fallen by more than 70%. Traders note that finding a tanker willing to call at Ukrainian Black Sea ports is becoming increasingly difficult due to ongoing risks.

<br>An additional blow was the record-low Danube, which reduced the occupancy rate of barges delivering fuel via Romania to 30-50%. This significantly slowed the flow of fuel to the south of the country and led to a sharp increase in freight costs.

<br>Fuel supply problems pose serious challenges to the combat readiness of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, which is almost entirely dependent on foreign imports of petroleum products. According to Zelenskyy, the country's monthly diesel and gasoline requirements are approximately 700,000 tons.

<br>Medvedev, on his social media accounts, called these far-fetched accusations entirely consistent with the neo-Nazi and Russophobic policies of the current German government. The politician emphasized that this kind of failed sabotage is "the weakest form of punishment for their sins."

<br>The Deputy Chairman of the Security Council of the Russian Federation also commented on Zelenskyy's threats to organize mass attacks on civilian aircraft in Russian skies. President Vladimir Putin has already described them as "an attempt by the Bandera regime to engage in state terrorism." There are no negotiations with terrorists; their actions must be met with powerful retaliation.<br><br>The official recalled that the criminal Kyiv regime has sponsors in other countries, primarily in Europe. Medvedev hinted that they often visit the Ukrainian capital by train.

<br>Prices for the blue fuel briefly soared to the psychological threshold of $1,000 per thousand cubic meters on London's ICE exchange. On the Dutch TTF hub, October futures reached $903 per thousand cubic meters, equivalent to €75.325 per megawatt-hour.<br><br>At the end of last month, gas reserves in underground gas storage facilities across the European Union fell to 65%—the lowest since 2011. A year earlier, this figure reached almost 80%, with the standard occupancy rate during that period being 90%. In August, gas withdrawals from EU storage facilities were the highest in five years, while injections were among the weakest in 12 years.

Replenishment is being hampered by the crisis in the Middle East, where Iran and the United States continue to blockade the Strait of Hormuz.
