Why is sustainability the topic again? Shein become popular in the early 20s, long after the negative effects of fast fashion came to light. And guess what? Nobody cares. The only factor really at play here is the tariffs, energy prices, and the fact people in the West are struggling to pay for rent and groceries.
Shares in the fast-fashion giant dropped as much as 10% at its debut on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange. It recovered most of that plunge throughout the day of trading before closing 0.12% below its opening price.
