Africa renews push to recognise and invest in traditional medicine

Africa’s traditional medicine is gaining renewed attention as stakeholders push for greater recognition, research and investment in indigenous knowledge and locally rooted healthcare solutions. The stakeholders who spoke in Nairobi said the growing push to advance African traditional medicine is creating new opportunities to preserve indigenous knowledge while developing locally rooted wellness solutions. The push will see private practitioners working in partnership with government agencies to create pathways for traditional practitioners to meaningfully contribute to the formal value chain.
