El Niño Alert: Health Ministry steps up preparedness for disease outbreaks

The Ministry of Health has stepped up preparations for emergencies and disease outbreaks ahead of the anticipated El Niño rains. Officials say they are on high alert for possible trauma cases, disease outbreaks and disruptions to health services, while sensitizing the public on preparedness. According to Dr Andrew Toro, the Director for Curative Care and Nursing Services, there are sufficient reserves of drugs and medical supplies to respond to emergencies.
