In 1954, Constance Fisher drowned her 3 children in Maine & was committed to a psychiatric hospital. They were 6 y/o, 4 y/o & 11 months old. She was released a few years later, but trajecically, after she & her husband had 3 more children, she drowned those children as well in 1966. They were 6 y/o, 4 y/o & 9 months old. After the second tragedy in 1966, Constance Fisher was once again found not guilty by reason of insanity and was recommitted to the Augusta State Hospital. She would eventually escape, throw herself into the river & die by suicide.

She murdered her kids. My wife suffered from post partum depression and psychosis. It was so difficult and sad trying to help her through this. She never once did anything to harm any of this. Now she is struggling with Menopause. All i can do is comfort her and help her through this transition, but yet still she isn't trying to hurt any of us. This is BS. She just murdered her kids. Eventually she'll get what's coming. Either in this life or the next.

The defense may have offered an alternative interpretation, but possibility or an expert's unsupported assertion doesn't make that interpretation equally probable. Once the evidence is properly weighed rather than the narratives being treated symmetrically, the decision is straightforward. based on the evidence and not on emotion it's a straight forward decision.

I believe they jury may be at odds with the verdict being 1st degree, 2nd degree, or manslaughter. I don't think it is about mental illness. The drugs in her system proved medication wasn't the issue, and that is what the defense hung it's hat on. Making a decision between 2nd degree and manslaughter is difficult, and that very well may be the issue. Or, of course, someone on that jury is brain dead!
