The civilian leadership of the US military is non negotiable. We are now 250 years into a Republic where Generals have regularly displayed no courage in opposing the orders given, and if Dan wants to be one of the few to buck the trend then good on him. But, the moment he says no, he has to be removed, period. If he wants to be in politics, he has to take off the uniform first. I have no trust in the US Military to assert any independent authority, or leadership, and as a civilian, I reject any effort on their part to try. Its not their job, and they wouldn't know how to do it anyway. There are millions of veterans who are better positioned to do so. Keep your uniform on, and follow orders. If you have a problem with that, take the uniform off at the earliest opportunity. I have no interest in your position on anything in the mean time. It has to be that way, and if you know your role in the military, you understand why. If you don't, you never deserved to wear the uniform because you took the oath without knowing what it meant. My entire family has served, before you come at me with your slander and such. We don't owe you anything more, but at least my family served honorably, and knew when to leave, and didn't make a spectacle of ourselves.
