NDR 2026: “We will always ensure that Singaporeans remain the majority in our own country”: PM Wong

The Singapore government will “always ensure” that Singaporeans remain the majority in the country, but will continue to welcome foreign manpower to support its economy amid a declining birthrate and ageing population, said Prime Minister Lawrence Wong at the National Day Rally on Sunday (Aug 23).

He said that Singapore will welcome foreign manpower to complement the local workforce and support the economy, but in a careful and controlled way.
