#Pope Leo XIV inaugurates Sagrada Familia’s tallest tower

A century after Antoni Gaudí’s death, his vision has reached a new milestone.

Pope Leo XIV inaugurated the Tower of Jesus Christ at Barcelona’s Sagrada Familia, the newest and tallest spire of the iconic basilica. Standing 172.5 metres high and crowned with a five-story ceramic cross, it makes Gaudí’s masterpiece the tallest church in the world.

The ceremony followed a Mass inside the basilica and ended with a light show and fireworks. The event also marks the 100th anniversary of the architect’s death in 1926.
