Ethanol blending has increased from 1.53% in 2013-14 to 20% in 2025-26, and all new vehicles manufactured after April 2023 are designed to run on E20 fuel. Experts say higher ethanol use can lower fuel imports, support rural incomes, and move India closer to energy self-reliance.
