City of Johannesburg clean-up initative targets crime in Fleurhof

The City of Johannesburg has launched a multi-stakeholder operation at the Fleurhof Hostel, west of Johannesburg, aimed at tackling crime, illegal occupation and poor living conditions in the area.

The operation, led by Mlungisi Mabaso the MMC for Human Settlements, includes demolitions of illegal structures and the relocation of some residents. The MMC says the hostel has become a hotspot for crime allegedly linked to zama zamas.
