Hong Kong's prison service has pulled a controversial anti-drug video after it sparked backlash for appearing to glamourise drug use instead of warning against it. The K-pop-style clip, titled Obsession: The Sugar-Coated Trap, featured four AI-generated female group members, each representing a different drug. Critics said the catchy characters and descriptions of the drugs' effects made the campaign feel more like an advertisement than a deterrent.
After unsuccessful attempts to revise the video, the Hong Kong Correctional Services Department removed it and issued a statement on Saturday (Jun 27) acknowledging the blunder. https://cna.asia/4gcfrTA
