An unconditional ceasefire between Russia and Ukraine must be a prerequisite for any peace negotiations, European Union’s top diplomat Kaja Kallas said on the sidelines of the bloc’s foreign ministers’ meeting in Cyprus.

- UKRAINE AND SWEDEN CLOSE FIGHTER JET DEAL
As European officials hash out the future of negotiations with the Kremlin, Ukraine continues to close more and more defense deals, this time buying 20 new Gripen fighter jets from Sweden, with deliveries to begin by the end of the decade. On top of that, Stockholm will donate another 16 older models as soon as next year.

- HUNGARY’S HIGH HOPES FOR EU FUNDS RELEASE
Optimism tonight from Hungary’s new Prime Minister Péter Magyar, who expects to reach a deal on unblocking billions in frozen EU funds by the end of the working week. Magyar plans to sit down with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen on Friday to negotiate the release of the cash, which was blocked during Viktor Orbán’s tenure as head of government.
